Fredericksburg, Texas, doesn’t get tons of rainfall — until it does. May brings nearly a week’s worth of showers, and the other spring and summer months might also harbor sudden downpours. You might think your property is perfectly functional without a drainage system until you’re ankle-deep in rainwater on your own lawn.
Every property needs a fool-proof drainage system. Sprinkler Fix can create the solution and install it in your yard for optimal lawn and garden protection.
Properties Without Proper Drainage Systems Suffer!
Damaged building structures
When rainwater falls from your roof or follows its own path toward your home or nearby buildings, it eventually moves down into the soil where it shifts and softens the building foundation. Proper drainage helps with water damage prevention for sheds, houses, fences, and more.
Dirt loss
Water movement transports dirt downhill and away from its original location. Your plants, landscape features, and other structures can suffer and fall apart without soil erosion control.
Overwatered plants
Sometimes, the excess water pools in dimpled or low-lying places. If it collects near your landscape plants, it will kill them via bacteria overgrowth and root rot.
Bare spots on the lawn
Grass, much like foliage, trees, and shrubs, can suffer when exposed to too much water for too long. It will die back, leaving bare dirt on the lawn.
Standing water
If you want to enjoy the post-storm clarity and freshness, you will dodge a minefield of puddles and swampy areas or stick to your porch.
Increased pest activity
Standing water attracts unwanted visitors like mosquitoes. They reproduce in still puddles, which increases the local population.
Our Drainage Services Are Your Landscaping Solution
Gutter downspouts-
Does it seem like your roof produces torrential rainfall on its own? That means you need gutter downspout adapters that allow us to connect to your existing downspout and redirect the water into pipes underground. Once the roof drainage water is captured, it can be redirected and discharged using a pop-up emitter at least 20 feet from the structure.
Catch Basins
Catch basins are typically placed within the lowest part of your yard to keep water from pooling in the low areas. We also utilize catch basins in strategically placed areas that allow them to be used as a clean-out for your drainage system. When properly used, a catch basin is another tool we use to create an effective drainage system for your property.
French Drains
If you notice standing water around your home, other buildings, and patios consider adding French drains for a system that uses natural gravity to redirect sub-surface water. When we build a French drain, we encapsulate a slotted pipe within a rock substrate that is then wrapped in a drainage fabric. The fabric keeps the pipe and rock separate from the surrounding soil, therefore, keeping it clean for water transportation. This system is very useful to redirect sub- surface water to the best distribution point in the yard.
Channel Drains
This type of drainage system is used around hardscaped areas, such as pool decks, driveways and sidewalks to name a few. Water falls into the channel and is directed to a new distribution point.
Channel Drains
Channel drains are perfect for places where water collects and stagnates above ground, like large puddles or low-lying swaps. You can install one on a paved or otherwise graded surface. Water falls into the channel, and the channel directs and releases it to a new, more convenient area.
French Drains
If you notice flooding around your home, other buildings, and patios, consider adding French drains for a system that uses natural gravity to redirect water. When we build a French drain during our drainage services, we install the opening at the top of a hill and the release at the bottom. The water quickly and easily flows away from your structures and other features.
Gutter Downspouts
Does it seem like your roof produces torrential rainfall of its own? That means you need gutter downspouts. Downspouts connect to your gutter system at varying intervals. As water falls down roof peaks and empties into the gutters, the gutters direct the water into the spouts.
Perhaps you installed downspouts during previous drainage services, but still struggle with excess water pooling around your home. In that case, ask us about downspout extensions to direct water further away from buildings using the current spouts.

Catch Basins
Looking to reuse that runoff to water flower beds or vegetable gardens? We suggest installing catch basins. A catch basin collects excess water after it drains to its destination.
The basin consists of sturdy concrete with a grate on top. The grate prevents rubbish and organic debris from polluting the water.

Pop-Up Emitters
Perhaps you don’t want or need a catch basin but you do want an effective but visually subtle solution for emptying drainage water into its new location. Enter the pop-up emitter.
These devices are spring-loaded. When water moves down the drainage pipe, it triggers the emitter to pop up and open. After clearing the water, the emitter disappears again.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can Poor Drainage Impact the Environment?
Yes, poor drainage can impact the environment. The excess water flow removes soil from the area, impacting native plant and animal life.
How Deep Should You Bury Drainage Pipes?
Depth is site specific and depends on how much slope is available for water to flow
appropriately.
Do I Have to Put Gravel Under a Landscape Drain Pipe?
Depends on the drainage system that is being used on the site. Most French Drains
utilize gravel to create a large void in the soil to allow water migration into the slotted pipe.
